What is baby acne?

Baby acne is typically small, red bumps that appear on the skin of newborns between 2 and 6 weeks. Baby acne is usually seen on the baby’s skin, but it can also be found on their scalp.

It can be distressing to see baby’s red bumps. Baby acne is normal and common in newborns, I want you to know that. Although baby acne isn’t harmful, it is a good idea for your child to see a pediatrician if you have any questions.

What causes baby acne in babies?

Doctors don’t know why babies get acne. Although some believe hormones play a part, but it is mostly mom’s hormones that are responsible for acne, the medical community doesn’t really know why.

Baby acne is not the same as adult acne. Baby acne treatment is different from what you might have tried for teenage acne.

What can you do for baby acne?
